Adam Savage..From Mythbusters Interview

I second the first line quoted below. This is the first part of a good interview with Adam Savage.

Japan’s first mall-patrolling security robot, the T63 Artemis, took an instant dislike to Japan’s Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi yesterday. A simple meet-and-greet experience was obviously too much for the batty bot, which launched a smokescreen on contact.

Enforcing the Linux Trademark…

I don’t see a problem with this. If there wasn’t a Linux Trademark, all kinds of slimy idiots would be trying to claim they own Linux, and that has already happened. Further, if Linus and LMI don’t actively enforce the trademark on some, then they forfeit it.

BTW the numbers they are talking about are like $200 – $5000. That is pocket change for companies that are making money on something that was free to them anyway. Besides, this isn’t a fee to use Linux, it is a fee to use the trademark.

Engadget 1985

Over at Engadget they have a post that looks like it was written in 1985, complete with images and ascii art. It is a great post.

Back in June on my podcast Technorama that I co-host with Chuck Tomasi we did something similar. We produced the show as if it was June 15th 1987. It was a lot of fun to do…but thinking like it was 1987 as opposed to 2005 made my head hurt.

DarqKnyght created a spoof montage – ever wonder what it would sound like if Homer Simpson played Xbox Live? Wonder no more! Timing is beautiful, and there were several laugh-out-loud clip choices (for me, at least). Warning ahead of time: anyone who chooses to denigrate the actual gameplay shown (“those weren’t very impressive kills”) on our forum will be mocked mercilessly by me – this montage is NOT about the masterful play, it’s about the great matchup between gameplay and Simpson snippets. This app looks cool. It allows you to browse your music like you are flipping through your older vinyl album covers.

I do try to make sure that all my MP3s have album art in them so I will be checking this out…

Don’t know about you, but I find browsing a list of album names somewhat uninspiring, to say the least. One of the big appeals of a physical album is the beautiful packaging and aesthetic appeal, something that’s sorely missed with the digital equivalent.
