Calling Doctor Floyd!

Welcome to another edition of “Kreg’s: How’d I Miss That!”

My buddy Chuck Tomasi whom I co-host Technorama with, pointed me to Doctor Floyd. I am kicking myself in the rear trying to figure out how this one got by me. This podcast is like crossing Jimmy Neutron with Rocky and Bullwinkle. It is short, about 3 – 5 minutes each, and funny. It is done in the style like an old serial radio broadcast.

Season 3 starts Monday August 1st, but to catch up Seasons 1 and 2 are available for download off of thier website. Since the episodes are short, you can buzz through each season in about 30 minutes.

Definitely worth listening to.

The Space Shuttle is Away!

I just watched Nasa TV using realplayer and at 10:39a like clock work, the shuttle took off. That is engineering at it’s best.

Besides the take off, watching the shuttle peal off from the large external tank was amazing. There was a camera attached to the external tank to facilitate seeing the under side of the shuttle as the orange tank fell away.

Congratulations Nasa and Shuttle Crew! Welcome back to space.

Fat Man Walking…

Steven Vaught is walking to work down his weight. I am not talking about just a walk around the block or anything. He is walking across the USA from Southern California to Maine!

He says that he is doing it to get his weight down so he can be happy with himself once again, and get into better shape for his family.

Very commendable! I wish him all the luck…and I may take a page from this and do a little walking myself.

Guest hosting TechTidbits Daily!

Tech Tidbits Daily is part of Steven Holden’s podcast at Technewsradio.com. He does a 20min or so podcast called Tech Rag Tearouts and shorter versions through out the week called Tech Tidbits Daily which are about 1-3 minutes each. Tech Rag Tearouts is just that, as Steven reads articles he tears them out to keep and he uses that as material for his podcasts.

Steven Holden is taking a vacation, and asked for volunteers to guest host while he is out so I am doing 3, Today July 25th, July 28th, and August 2nd. There are a lot of others also doing the Tech Tidbits Daily too so give it a go, and subscribe over here.

Free Open Source 3D Shoot and Frag Game…

It uses HFX textures by Evil Lair, and the Quake 1 Darkplaces engine, and currently has 17 maps to frag in. You also can connect to our master server to play people from all over the world. The game’s content and source are GPL. Meaning, it is entirely free and any of it can be used in other free projects, even if modified.

Dueling iPods! Alright!

I use to DJ back in the Dark Ages. I loved matching beats, and mixing up songs. There is this great satisfaction that you get when people are dancing and partying to what you are playing…

I haven’t mixed in a while, but it is still an interest to me. Anyway, look at what showed up over at Engadget! Set up a mixing stack with iPods!

Oh how I wish that I had MP3’s back then. I could have saved my back hauling around all those records.
