Victor over at the Typical Mac User Podcast says:

 ”Listener Brian ( In Texas) sent me the picture below of his Gmail client . When he went to settings then “Forwarding
and POP” section, it shows a new IMAP Access section which includes
verbiage that says “Configure your email client (e.g. Oulook,
Thunderbird, iPhone). According to Brian “There were no instructions
available on the support center, merely an option to enable or disable
imap.”
