Knocking the Dust off my Camera

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I don’t know why but i have been in a photography funk for about 3 months. What does photography funk mean? I guess I am trying to say that I haven’t been inspired to do anything. A hiatus if you will. I can probably chalk it up to winter…not being able to get out so much, or  perhaps all the time I have had tied up between the holidays and projects I have taken on since then.

How do you get out of a funk? I imagine it is the same as how you would overcome writers block and if so does anyone have an answer to that. I would imagine that getting over any block you have to try something different and see things in a different light?

I am reminded of Dead Poets Society where Robin Williams asked everyone to stand up on their desks. He was trying to prove the point that you can see the world differently if you change your perspective. Maybe that is what I need to do. It works, I tried it.

Today I took my first step, even though it is cold out, I tried to rally some troops on twitter to do the same and I headed out into the city and walked around. No plan, just take pictures. It is a start.

Away from the Rocks

This next week I am going to try and get back on my Photo Horse and ride.

How do you get over your funk?

Twitter down time

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

With twitter being down today, and all that extra time that will provide me, I will post new photographs every hour until Twitter comes back up. May be 1 to 5 pics….dunno.

I have an incredible backlog of pictures that need processing and sharing…so what better time?

Flickr adds Statistics?

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Wow, this ought to be interesting. Having something like web statistics for who is viewing photos, and from where on Flickr. Pretty Cool. You have to activate the feature, and it is only for PRO accounts.

Flickr Add Stats to Pro Accounts

I know a lot of you are Flickr users – so you might be interested to see that they’ve added a new feature today – Flickr Stats which gives you a nice overview of how many people have been viewing your images.

In the Shadows Pumpkin on the Edge

I wish away my summers for what is probably my favorite time of the year. I love the change in the weather, the holidays, and the colors that it brings.

Hello from Ontario

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Hey Guys! We’ve made our way from San Francisco all the way down to Ontario, California, but we didn’t leave before having a ball there. On Tuesday, September 25th, we met up with Martin Mckeay and Tom Pose at the 21st amendment. Martin we had met previously at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo, and Tom was a pleasure to meet for the first time.

A little while later that night Thomas Hawk and some other photographers that hang out over at Zooomr met up with us to go out on a photowalk. That was a lot o fun! We walked and shot pictures for quite a while. I got to see a side of San Francisco that I hadn’t seen before which is great, and what I think photography is all about. Seeing things from a different perspective. You can view my pictures here, and the groups photos here.

Anyway, Tonight is the live show! (Wish us luck) at the Marriott in Ontario, California! See you there, hopefully.

Peering inside Nikon’s D3 and D300

Friday, August 24th, 2007

This is quite cool. I am jonesing for a D300 now, thanks to Kevin Devin for making me think about it. Here is a piece from C|NET showing off the “guts” of the new Nikon D3 and D300. Interesting to see the skeleton in particular.

Peering inside Nikon’s D3 and D300 | Underexposed – CNET News.com
Nikon’s D3 and D300 SLR (single-lens reflex) cameras, announced Wednesday, are complicated and expensive beasts, so few people outside a repair center or Canon’s competitive intelligence unit are going to be cracking them open.
